Virtues & SEL
At ACCLAIM Academy we seek to build competence in our students academically while building their character and social skills with the virtues and Social Emotional Learning activities. Students school-wide receive SEL lessons, based around a monthly theme, using the Safe & Caring Schools Social-Emotional Learning curriculum. Themes include Discovering Our Feelings, My Support System, Respect Yourself and Others and Follow Your Dreams. The purpose is to teach students positive coping skills, help them gain self-confidence, and develop self-control. Through this they practice having empathy and respect for others, learn to work together, set goals and make conscious decisions.
